The 9th Joint Exhibition of 300 Photography Club Members

The purpose of establishing “300 Photography Club” is to record the daily life and the growing process of Taiwan. NOW and WHEN: Australian Urbanism

The exhibition at Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts is a major project of the Australian Institute of Architects. It was the Australian Exhibition at the 12th International Architecture Exhibition, Venice Biennale 2010. One to All: the art of Wang Huaiquin

Wang Huaiquin, born in Beijin, studied in the Central Academy of Craft Art and earned his graduate degree there. Influenced by his mentor, Wu Guanzhong, Wang was passionate with the modern idea from the West. He developed an enduring concept of esthetics and characteristics uniquely his own after surviving the hardship of Cultural Revolution. Though trained as an oil painter, Wang’s attention was on the abstract language of form and space. In recent years, he embraced the norm of brush and ink into his works which revealed his philosophic kinship back to the East. The exhibition, held at Taipei Fine Arts Museum until August 5, 2012, comprises 40 pieces of work from the artist’s entire career. .....

Forum for Creativity in Art: Mirror Images of Culture—Life Traces of Taiwanese and Okinawan Artists

Curated by Chiu Kuo-chun, this exhibition at Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts features the works of nine Taiwanese and Japanese artists: Hsia Ai-hua, Huang Chien-hua, ChenYi-chang, Ena Nagao, Mitsuhiro Konishi, Sonomi Hori, Atsushi Mizutani, Masayuki Yata, and Chiu Kuo-chun. The exhibition, which runs through July 22, 2012, is based on the concept that Taiwan and Okinawa are two islands with a lot of similarities in their natural environments and historical backgrounds and there are frequent exchanges between them. The works on view highlight the cultural differences and similarities between the two islands and their mutual influences on each other.
