2010 Annual Exhibition of TELDAP

From March 5 to 19, 2010, the Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Program (TELDAP) is hosting its annual exhibition at Taipei’s Technology Building of National Science Council. With “Mastering Information with e-Hand” as its major theme and sections of “Projects” and “Themes,” the exhibition (http://newsletter.teldap.tw/news/NewsContent.php?nid=3491&lid=370) introduces to the public all TELDAP’s digitized results in 2009. These results came from TELDAP’s 8 core sub-projects and 20 participating institutions such as Academia Sinica, National Palace Museum, Industrial Development Bureau of Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Ministry of Education.

 
The Story of the Ancient People in Taichung Metropolitan Region

“The Story of the Ancient People in Taichung Metropolitan Region,” an exhibition at the National Museum of Natural Science in Taichung, invites visitors to travel into Taichung's past. It starts with a map of excavation sites in Greater Taichung to provide an understanding of the changes that have taken place in central Taiwan from prehistoric times to today, and then goes deep into its three prehistoric cultures: Niumatou Culture (4500-3000 BP), Yingpu Culture (3000-2000 BP), and Fanziyuan Culture (2000-400 BP). The exhibit (http://www.nmns.edu.tw/nmns_eng/04exhibit/Temporary/exhibitis/Ancient.htm), which runs from February 15 to November 14, 2010, features spectacular objects excavated from the Gong-Jian-Er-Liu Park and gives a look at the Taichung Basin from the sedimentation perspective.

 
Liao Wei-Lin 88 Retrospective Exhibition

Senior Taiwanese fine art designer, Mr. Liao Wei-Lin, is a legend in Taiwan’s art and design circles. To celebrate Liao’s 88th birthday in 2010, the National Museum of History is holding an exhibition from March 5 to April 11 to display his work and his lifelong achievements to the public. The exhibition  (http://www.nmh.gov.tw/en-us/Exhibition/Content.aspx?Para=0|22|533&unkey=53) will display book covers, illustrations, fabric patterns and other popular forms that he has designed, as well as old design drafts that have never been shown in public before and some new pieces of work that have been done in recent years.

 
The Lost Frontier – Treaty Maps that Changed Qing's Northwestern Boundaries

Over the past three hundred years or so, the Sino-Russian border has seen frequent clashes. Figuring significantly among the archives of the Qing Foreign office and those held in trust by the National Palace Museum for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are the many Qing territory treaties and treaty maps signed with Russia over the lands in the northeast, the north (Mongolia), and the northwest (Xinjiang).

From February 10 to August 10, 2010, the National Palace Museum is hosting an exhibition which composes of three sections: "The Changing Borders," "Demarcating and Signposting: North, Middle, and South," and "In Conclusion" (http://www.npm.gov.tw/exh98/frontier/en1.html).
 

 
Adventures in Insect Wonderland - Exhibition of Insect Digital Archives Project

This exhibition incorporates print text, photographs, specimen displays, as well as multimedia audio-video systems and equipment to showcase the targets, applications, and achievements of the Taiwan e-Learning and Digital archives Program. The visitors can view different presentation styles via lively multimedia surroundings, make online inquiries about Entomology, and watch animation shows. The exhibition is held at Taipei Zoo and runs from February 6 to June 20, 2010 (http://www.imdap.entomol.ntu.edu.tw/2010ExhibitionWeb/subjects.html).
