Empididae flies are mainly predatory flies and are generally small to medium sized, non-metallic and rather bristly. Their larvae are largely predatory, although some are scavengers, and occupy a wide range of habitats, both aquatic and terrestrial. The specimens of flies are kept in cabinets 31-34.
