Yamato-I Superconducted Electromagnet-propelled Boat

This prototype ship is propelled by superconductor electromagnetic thrusters that displace water astern with a powerful magnetic field. The thrusters are silent and produce no vibration. Designed and built through a cooperative venture between Japan Shipbuilding Promotion Consortium and Mitsubishi heavy Industry Kobe Shipyard, the ship was launched in 1985. She is 26 meters long, 10 meters wide and weighs 250 tons.
