Square Yan with Bo Song-fu inscripition

This steamer is divided into two parts. The upper part, Zheng, is for holding the rice; the lower part, Li, is for boiling the water. The middle part is designed to let out the steam. This utensil is a necessary item of sacrificial vessels. The inscription on the bottom reads, “Bo Song Fu, of the Yin family, as an official, make this Yan for the uses of his descendants till eternity.”
