The dextral, thin, and translucent shell of the Macrochlamys hippocastaneum is cone-shaped with a low apex. The coloration ranges from yellowish green to yellowish brown. With six whorls and a low spire, the shell is smooth and covered with spiral stripes. The umbilicus is small and partially covered. The width of the aperture is about 1/2 of the shell diameter.
