The Divine Michelangelo

To provide a comprehensive introduction to Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (1475-1564), one of the three masters of the Italian Renaissance, National Museum of History in Taipei collaborated with Media Sphere Communications Ltd. and “Casa Buonarroti” museum in Italy to hold the exhibition (http://www.nmh.gov.tw/en-us/Exhibition/Content.aspx?Para=0|21|715&unkey=53). The exhibition runs until May 12, 2013, and showcases 105 works, including reproductions of famous sculptures as David and Pieta, the fresco details in the Sistine Chapel, and architecture-related works. 14 original drawings and manuscripts from Casa Buonarroti are also presented. The exhibition is divided into five sections: Life of Michelangelo: Public and Private (portraits of him, his private life and his studio), Sculpture and Painting of Michelangelo, Architecture and Poetry of Michelangelo, Clash of Titans: Da Vinci vs. Michelangelo, and original manuscripts from Casa Buonarroti.
