Illustrated Love Poems from the Shijingshan Studio

Tags: art | poetry

This is an illustration of a poem. The introduction to the book states: “The illustrations are all by renowned artists. They imitated the ancients to meticulously evoke the sentiments of the poetry, taking several days to complete a single illustration. They then sought out skilled craftsmen to carefully carve the wood blocks. The spirit of the scene carries us deep inside, while the images are sumptuous.”
The excerpted lines from the illustration read: “The shadow of the paulownia crosses her silvery bed/ Suddenly, she turns/ Startled to see Tan.”
