The Soul of Chinese Rural Realism: Art of Luo Zhong-li’s Painting

Mr. Luo Zhong-li, the current director of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, is a senior and much admired Chinese artist. Born in Chongqing in 1948, Luo went to live in a farming village in rural Daba Mountain in 1968 for ten years and initiated the artistic development of realism in China. His oil painting techniques not only were deeply evocative of the humble life lived by common people but also elevated art to the level of humanistic concern.

The National Museum of History in Taipei organized this exhibition of Luo’s sketches and pastels alongside his oil paintings (http://www.nmh.gov.tw/zh-tw/Exhibition/Content.aspx?Para=0|22|679&unkey=20) in order to promote cultural exchanges and to celebrate this internationally renowned artist. The closing day is June 3, 2012.
