Cultural feature-Northeast section architectural remains (東北區建築遺構)

Introduction
Northeast section architectural remains
The scope of the northeast section includes 6 pits: J7, J8, K7, K8, L7 and L8. Originally, this was the lowest section in terms of the internal topography of the excavation area. As the layers located at 140-150 cm below the surface or less were damaged during construction, there are only remains in the deepest layers. These include erect slate structure F24, stone structure F22, and slate coffin M3. (Chuan-kun Ho, Ke-hong Liu)

Stone structures F22, F24, F25
Erect slate structure F24

Erect slate structure F24 is located in pit J8. The remaining length is approximately 1.1 m. This feature is comprised of 3-4 pieces of slate placed erect in a continuous arrangement. It is located at a depth 170-195 cm below the surface at an orientation of north by east 20°. From the strata along the west side of this feature a comparatively large amount of potsherds were excavated. Along the east side is raw soil.

Stone structure F22
Stone structure F22 is located in pits J7 and J8 with a length of approximately 1.3 m. This feature is comprised of 1-2 layers of gravel in a single row with an orientation north by east 12°. This feature is situated at a depth of 160-180 cm below the surface. At the north end, stone structure F22 turns at a right angle westward, crossing over erect slate structure F24 and extending into the west wall of pit J8.

Stone structure F25
Stone structure F25 is in a single layer, single row arrangement, located in pit L8, at a depth of 150-170 cm below the surface. It is oriented west by slightly north. However, this feature was severely damaged. It is possible that this feature is the remains of an architectural structure.

Summary
1. Erect slate structure F24 is situated at a depth of 170-195 cm below the surface. This feature is the farthest from the surface. Stone structure F22 was built on top of this feature. Erect slate structure F24 is most likely the earliest architectural remains in the northeast section. There are similarities in terms of materials and form to F7 in west section and F12 and F13 in east section.
2. Stone structure F22 is from a later time period than erect slate structure F24 and is situated at a depth of 160-180 cm below the surface, similar to stone structure F25 and stone structure F22. Thus, they may be from approximately the same time period.
3. Architectural remains from the same time period as slate coffin M3 would be situated at less than 140 cm below the surface and thus have most likely been completely destroyed.
4. Slate coffin M3 is most likely from a later time period than erect slate structure F24, stone structure F22 and stone structure F25.
