This is the first page of the first issue of Taiwan Prefectural City Church News, now simply called Taiwan Church News. Dating from 1885, it is still in publication and is the longest running newspaper in Taiwan. It was printed in Roman alphabets from 1885 to March 1969 but switched to Mandarin Chinese as the Nationalist Government forbade the use of Roman alphabets. The content mostly concerned religious affairs. Regularly there would also be world news, introductions of novel ideas, fictions, poetry, etc, making it a multi-faceted publication.
