Landownership Papers

Dating from the Qing Dynasty, this item is a traditional Taiwanese contract which has great value for researchers interested in the folk culture of this period. In early days, contracts could be made simply in private, as long as they were in the written form with valid signatures of participating parties. However, legal contracts needed to be verified and stamped by the local authority. This contract is complete, the records all detailed and accurate. Items such as this are rare and important to be preserved as an example of traditional trade and business culture in Taiwan.
