As the name implies rhodonite exhibits characteristic rosy pink color. This characteristic rose pink color, distinct cleavage, high hardness and ubiquitous stripes of black manganese oxide are diagnostic features. Cut-open surfaces show “Chinese scenery paintings” reminiscent of natural paintings.
