The Idea species are relatively larger butterflies. There are more than one hundred species in this genus in the tropical and subtropical regions, of which only one species, Idea leuconoe clara (Butler, 1867) occurs in Taiwan. Some specimens were collected from southeastern Asia from 1900-1930 and were kept in cabinet 84.
