The Sinogastromyzon puliensis have extremely flat ventral sides with their back rising slightly. They have an inferior mouth, a blunt, and flat snout, and four pairs of whiskers. Their body color varies according to different places of origin. They prefer to stay at the bottom of rocks in swift currents, and their diet includes organic detritus and aquatic insects. They have less tolerant criteria for dissolved oxygen and for the conditions of water quality; therefore a change in environment could cause the large-scale elimination of this species.
