Eco-Photo of the Medaka (Oryzias latipes) 青鱂魚
The medaka has a flat head, large eyes, a small mouth, and no lateral line. Its body is translucent; its back is light gray and belly silver-white. A black stripe runs down its center. It usually dwells on the surfaces of ponds, ditches, and paddy fields among other still or slow-flowing waters. Its diet consists mainly of small invertebrates. Good adaptation ability to different levels dissolved oxygen and to temperature fluctuations.In recent years, they have gradually become very rare to the point of near extinction.
