Eco-Photo of the Formosan Landlocked Salmon (Oncorhynchus formosanus) 臺灣鈎吻鮭 |
Formosan landlocked salmon can be found on the upstream of the Dajia River which has an elevation level of above 1500m. They are temperate cold-water fish that have remained in the high mountain streams since the ice age, and can only survive in streams with temperatures of under 15˚. Food sources include aquatic insects and other insects that have fallen into the water. They are about 20 to 30cm in body length; the sides are flat, the backsblack-green and abdomen silvery white. There are nine oval-shaped spots on the center of the sides of the body.
