Who is crying in the far side? Why is he such sad?
Ride a golden horse to see, that is the past.
Who is crying in the far side? Why is he such sad?
Ride a grey horse to see, that is tomorrow.
Who is crying in the far side? Why is he such sad?
Ride a white horse to see, that is love.
Who is crying in the far side? Why is he such sad?
Ride a black horse to see, that is death.
Exposition of the music:
The poem of “Song” was composed by surrealistic poet, Ya Hsien. The poet used repeated technique to infuse musicality into the poetry. The meaning of the poem is that regardless the past or tomorrow, love or death, in the far side as long as it can be seen it is covered with crying and sadness. Li Tai-Hsiang used music to establish the aerial conception. While collocating with Chi Yu’s singing voice, he has sketched the poet’s artistic conception in the music.
