2009 Annual Exhibition of TELDAP.TW

On February 9~28, 2009, the Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Program (TELDAP) will host its annual exhibition at Taipei’s Technology Building of National Science Council. With “Your Daily Life” as its major theme, the exhibition (http://ae.teldap.tw/) will introduce to the public all TELDAP’s digitized results in 2008 that are related to people’s lives. There will be a “Projects” section and a “Themes” section. All text descriptions will be in both Chinese and English.

A New Way to Look at Plants: Digitizing Botanical Diversity, with Special Focus on Begonia.

The Biodiversity Research Center of Academia Sinica (Taiwan Native plant digital archive project) will host an exhibition “A New Way to Look at Plants” in 2009. The exhibition will run from January 15 to May 29 and the venue is Building for Humanities and Social Sciences, Academia Sinica, Taipei. 2009 TELDAP International Conference

TELDAP International Conference
In conjunction with GRL 2020 & MCN Taiwan Meeting

Venue: Building for Humanities and Social Sciences, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan

 

The 2009 TELDAP International Conference in conjunction with GRL 2020 and MCN Taiwan Meeting will be held at Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan from 23 to 27 February 2009. The joint event is organized by the International Collaboration Division of the Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Program (TELDAP).

Following the success of 2008 Conference, what we intend to achieve in the 2009 Annual Conference is not only to demonstrate the results of TELDAP, but also include more in-depth discussions on the various applications of digital archives and on how the digital archives facilitates the paradigm shift of research methodology. The Conference covers topics such as the status of progress of the results of TELDAP, in-depth application of TELDAP content, new applications and technologies based on digitized contents, etc.

2008 Multimedia Workshop

On December 16~17, 2008, the Taiwan Digital Archives Expansion Project Division of Taiwan e-Learning & Digital Archives Program is sponsoring a workshop on multimedia at National Normal University, Taipei (http://content.teldap.tw/index/?p=868). Dr. Dietrich Schüller of Phonogrammarchiv (founded in 1899; the oldest audiovisual archive in the world) will give a talk on audiovisual-related issues and preservation strategies. There will also be professional recording engineers at the workshop to give recording lessons and share their experiences.

 
4th Culture.mondo Roundtable

The 4th Culturemondo Roundtable will convene in the Hua-shan Culture Park, Taipei, Taiwan on December 10~12, 2008( http://culturemondo.org/4th-Culturemondo-Roundtable-in-Taiwan-December-2008). It is anticipated that 35 culture experts from 27 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa, Americas, and the Mideast will meet to talk about “New Thinking, New Models - digital culture and heritage.” The speakers include media theorist & net critic Geert Lovink, Joseph Okpaku, Gino Yu, George Oates from Flickr, Seb Chan from Powerhouse Musuem in Syndey, and others.
