Taiwan is located in the influx of tropical and subtropical zones with a wealth of plant resources. Based on the Flora of Taiwan, there are more than four thousands classes. While Japan occupied Taiwan during late 19th and early 20th centuries, this represented the most important period of extensive study following in botanical research. During this period, lot of plant specimens were authenticated and published. After retrocession, national botanists took over the research based on Japanese studies to explore taxonomy such as: forest conservation and forest genetics…etc. The main reason to set up the Botanists Memorial Garden is to pay tribute to those researchers for their incredible hard work and to honour their passion for botany.
