Lambis chiragra (水字螺)

1. Inhabits the sandy sea bottoms around shallow reefs.
2. Shell shape: thick and solid, spindle-shaped, with five long, thick, hollow extensions that bend backwards, as well as a anterior siphonal canal that extends from right to left and is shaped like the Chinese character for “water”. There are 4-5 spiral ribs on the back with swellings on top. The aperture is small and narrow, and the outer lip and axis lip have denticle folds. Shell color: light yellow on the bottom, with brown (or yellow brown) stripes and spots. The aperture and axis lip are pink (or red) with white patches, and the rims of the shell mouth are commonly brown.
