Eco-Photo of the Taiwan Stream Loach (Crossostoma lacustre) 台灣纓口鰍
The Taiwan stream loach features 10 stripes on its back along with irregular brown patches both on its back and on the side of the body, giving it an endearing appearance. Its abdomen is flat, making it easier to adhere to stones. It is considered a benthic species as it often attaches its pectoral and ventral fin to the rocks on the bottom of the river bed. It has an inferior mouth and its diet includes algae and aquatic insects. Prefers cool waters, as well as the upper and middle reaches of the river.
