Lu-Liao site- Rod-shaped beads (梭狀珠)

Introduction
On lateral view, rod-shaped beads appear olive-shaped or oblong. On transverse view, they appear tube-shaped. There is usually a hole that passes through the center, bored from both sides, along the major axis. This type of bead was most likely used to form ornaments made from strands of beads.

Colors and shapes
A total of 650 rod-shaped beads were excavated from the Lu-Liao site. About 95% were red. In addition, there were 26 dual-colored beads in black and white. These are similar in appearance to peacock beads, except that peacock beads are half red and half black and are the seeds of a poisonous plant. Thus, there are obvious differences between these two types of beads.
