Description

Beginning 1976, the National Museum of History has accumulated photographic works, bringing up to 398 pieces in 2000. Though the technology used in photography has undergone several changes since its birth, the collection here is still that of traditional film. The collection includes 143 pieces of work (mainly photo gallery) by Lang Jing-Shan, the founder of the Chinese Photography Association, and 158 pieces of work on classical Taiwanese architecture shot by Gong Dian-Dong. The past daily life captured on the black-and-white photos, which were taken by Zhang Zuan-Chuan, Zhong Yong-He, Yang Ji-Xin , and Huang Bo-Ji, can also be observed through examination of the collection. Besides, foreign works are also brought in to add to the collection, such as those of the Japanese photographer, Naohisa Hara. During these years, the Museum has often held thematic photo exhibitions and constantly expanded its collection.
