Description

Since 1956, enamel artifacts has been added to by the National Museum of History and reached a total of 182 items so far. Enamel pieces can be divided into several types such as utensils of daily use (bowls, cups, plates), decorative objects (snuff boxes, colored eggs), and pendants (belt clips). These are mainly imitations of porcelain and bronze ware. This craft art was born out of the Ming and Qing traditions, whose origin was from Byzantium and Arabia. Then the art found its way into China and reached its artistic pinnacle during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing dynasty. Cloisonne, painted, and embedded enamel pieces are all well kept, with cloisonn�enamel items forming the majority of the whole collection.
