The woven fabrics reflect both refined and folk traditions in their weaving methods, patterns, and materials, and can be divided into four categories: clothing and accessories, household belongings, long tapestries, and aboriginal clothing. A general term “weaving” refers to all of the woven fabrics at the National Museum of History, because the collection comprises not only clothing items, but also a large number of woven and embroidered products. A majority of clothing items are skillfully woven and designed in a way that shows an ideal integration of auspiciousness, festivity, practicality and esthetic beauty.
