Porcelain (National Museum of History)Type Collection Collection Identifier c0602 Description For many years, the pottery products from the Changsha Kiln have been an important part of cultural artifacts collected by the National Museum of History, and have become the largest collection in Taiwan. Pottery from the Changsha Kiln located in the Tongguan Township of Changsha, Hunan, features under-glaze color decoration, and is mainly used to make everyday objects such as pots, vases, pitchers, and pillowcases, as well as other smaller objects such as kneaded human and animal figurines, whistles, toys, and other trinkets. Most of the porcelain artifacts from the Han, Song, and Yuan dynasties were produced by the folk kilns located in both the south and north China, and are livelier and more creative than the uniform artifacts produced by official kilns. Porcelain from the Ming and Qing dynasties has had a larger circulation and higher commercial values, thus being handed down through generations in great numbers.
