Description

Rubbings refer to rubbings of stele that can be used as models for calligraphy. The collection of rubbings held in the National Palace Museum date from the Han Dynasty to the ROC Era. Large in size and excellent in quality, the collection has retained several rubbings of lost books, making up for losses in its early stages. Among its items, Original Model Calligraphies of the Chunhua," "Crimson Calligraphy Model of the Song Dynasty," "Model Calligraphy of Song Dynasty Linjiang," "Model Calligraphy of Song Dynasty Wugang," and "Model Calligraphy of the Small Standard Script from the Jin and Tang Dynasties" are all excellent and well-known calligraphy models. In addition, the stele rubbings donated or purchased after National Palace Museum 's relocation to Taiwan, such as "Eulogy of Shimen" and "Kongzhou Stele" from the Han dynasty, and "Stele of Master Daoyin" by Ouyang Tong of Tang dynasty, "Stele of the Yunmuo General, Li Sishun" by Li Yong, "Stele of the Tower of Treasures" by Yen Jen-Ching, and "Eastern Sculptures, Paintings and Portraits," are also wonderful works that have improved the quality of the collection. The contents of this collection include not only the photos and basic data of each work but also their explanatory texts, inscriptions and seal marks. For some works, both Chinese and English introductions are provided, giving users complete access to research information."
