Description The collection of embroidery and tapestry pieces in the National Palace Museum date from the Song dynasty to the ROC era, with a complete range of subjects, including landscape, flower and bird, figure, and so on. Though not particularly large in size, the collection follows more than one thousand years of tradition and development in Chinese embroidery and tapestry. NPM's collection of Chinese embroidery and tapestry is one of the best among museums around the world.Particularly worth noticing is that NPM holds several extremely rare pieces from the Song dynasty, such as Landscape" by Shen Zifan, "Landscape" by Anonymous, "Wagtail and Polygonum" by Zhu Kerou, "Wintry Bird and Wild Fruit" by Anonymous, "Bird and Blossoms" by Anonymous, and "Allegory of the Five Cardinal Relationships" by Anonymous. The contents of this collection include not only the photos and basic data of each work but also their explantory texts, inscriptions and seal marks.
