This oriole is 25-27 cm in length. The male and female have slightly different plumage: while largely similar to males, only the females have bellies featuring mixed white feathers and longitudinal black stripes. This subspecies is endemic to Taiwan. The orioles can be found at an elevation of 300-1,000 meters, where they inhabit evergreen broadleaf forests and deciduous forests. The species is distributed sporadically, and the population in eastern Taiwan is most numerous; in contrast, it is seldom observed in western Taiwan. ......
