There are many wetland environments disappearing because of the high paced growth of the Taiwanese economy. Taipei Botanical Garden completed the Botanical Pool by 2005, in order to simulate three major wetland models in the North Taiwan, including Grassy marshes / Swamp, Shallow Lakes and Floodplains / Estuaries / Coasts districts. They are different to the Taiwan Aquatic Plants Garden with simple species exhibition function. By representing those aquatic plants in an artificial environment to provide a new home for plants but also reserve a wetland model which is disappearing in Taiwan.
