Built in 1921, the Bluenose was a Nova Scotia Grand Banks fishing schooner designed  specifically  to win races against the Gloucester fishing schooner of New England . After dominating these prestigious schooner races for many years, the Bluenose was sold into trade in the Caribbean, where she sank on a Haitian reef in 1946.The first full-sized replica of the Bluenose was launched in 1965 at Stephens Shipyards  in  Lunengurg Nova Scotia .
