Missouri Battleship

Launched in 1944, the battleship Missouri provided artillery support for the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa during World War II. The formal instrument of surrender by Japan to the Allied forces was signed on board the Missouri at anchor in Tokyo Bay . Later, the Missouri was recommissioned in 1986, and since has seen active service in the Persian Gulf and has circumnavigated the globe. (Original source : Warships of the World)
