Painted Ceramic Lady

Tags: ceramics | craft | figurine | Tang dynasty

The remarkable part of the Glazed Lady is that there remains a lot of paint, bright as new, on the figurine. This includes the red rouge on the cheeks, the green color of the cuffs, the brown color of the blouse, the orange color of the pleated skirt, etc. Her facial expression, as if she is talking face-to-face, is even more affecting. Although some black paint on her eyebrows and eyes was added and her shoulder area under the head was once broken, they were meticulously mended by the original parts. Dignified and magnificent, she represents the lady of the Tang Dynasty.
