Cloisonne Vessel with Dragon Design

Tags: cloisonne | vessel

The shape and decoration of this artifact exhibits styles of ancient Greek or Sasanian Persian Empire. A circular bulge beneath the mouth highlights the 3-dimensional aspects of the mouth. Its neck shrinks a little, its body plump, the circular leg tall. The body is flanked with two majestic dragons: their scales cover the entire body in a delicate and orderly manner; their wings have vivid patterns; their tails spread like flames; their power claws grasp the body of the vessel. In this artifact we can detect enamel techniques in lotus leave pattern on its neck and fungus and Western style pattern on its stomach.
