Pilgrimage Parades ─Grand Sedan Chair

As the deity’s private transportation, the grand sedan chair is also called the “The sedan chair”. The grand sedan chair is the main bout of the entire parade. When it arrives, believers of all ages bend down on their knees in rows, preparing for crawling under the sedan chair to pray for peace and evict demons.
The grand sedan chair we see most commonly is like a mini temple. It is carried by eight people to present the dignity and solemnity of the deity. There are some other special grand sedan chairs carried by four people, such as the one of Baishatun Matsu.
