Affection for the Countryside: The Gold Sculpture of Wu Ching
Wu Ching holds the pioneer status in Taiwan’s contemporary art of metalwork development. His gold sculpture work ranges from complete expression of an ant and its environment to assimilation with abstract and creative ideas. Wu’s style of artistic creations comes from his insights and experiences of life: from the observation of tiny life form of ants to his exposure to Buddhism scriptures; from the exploration of life to his searching of the meaning of existence. Wu’s works have been widely popular with the arts collectors in Taiwan and abroad. The National Center for Traditional Arts in Yi-Lan, until December 31, 2012, displays the collection (http://www.ncfta.gov.tw/Goldeneagle/html/intro.html) for visitors to see the delicate art of gold sculpturing by Wu.
